Case Overview
This was a grave sex crime in which the defendant repeatedly molested a minor employee working at the restaurant he operated. The victim trusted and looked up to the defendant as her employer, and the defendant exploited that relationship to molest her on six occasions in total, not only inside the restaurant but also at his home and in his apartment complex.
Our Strategy
This was not a simple molestation case but a grave crime in which repeated sexual violation within a relationship of trust destroyed the victim's very life. As the victim's representative, I pursued the criminal complaint from the outset by focusing on organizing the victim's statements, securing treatment records, and gathering clear evidence of where and when each act of molestation occurred. I legally rebutted the defendant's attempt to dress up his conduct as 'affection,' and, by proving through objective materials how severely the victim's condition deteriorated after the incidents, responded strategically so the court would accurately grasp the true nature of the case. Even after the victim's death, I focused on securing a judgment that would deliver real punishment and a message to society, one that went beyond a settlement at the level of mere Emotional Distress, taking into account the psychological shock and sense of loss of the surviving family. In particular, throughout the settlement process I protected the victim's side, responded firmly to any improper approach or attempt at persuasion from the perpetrator's side, and strategically balanced punishment with settlement. Sex crime cases require rigorous strategy and a structured legal approach, not emotion or sympathy. Professional assistance is essential to ensure that neither the restoration of the victim's rights nor the punishment of the perpetrator is lost, and I have carried out that role with full responsibility to the end.
