This was a digital sex crime case in which the defendant persistently made sexually harassing remarks in online game chat and distributed nude photographs of the victim, his former partner. The defendant had recorded and stored private phone calls with the victim from the past and, after the breakup, used the material as leverage, threatening to distribute it to third parties unless she broke up with her boyfriend. He in fact sent nude photographs of the victim to people around her and also sent sexual messages designed to cause humiliation to other users in the online game, displaying a repeated and premeditated pattern of criminal conduct.

Our client was suffering severe psychological distress from a crime that exploited the anonymity of a gaming community and a private relationship. In particular, because the perpetrator was a former partner, the victim had been hesitant even to file a complaint, worried about how others would see her and about secondary harm. After counseling her thoroughly on these concerns, I made securing clear evidence the top priority, collecting and submitting concrete digital materials such as audio recordings, chat logs, and the distribution paths of the photographs. I also obtained a diagnosis from a specialist institution regarding the victim's psychological after-effects, proving that this was a clear-cut digital sex crime rather than a mere emotional dispute.
