Victim Representation — Lover Who Secretly Filmed Sex and Used It for Blackmail
1. Case Overview
The victim suffered a horrific betrayal at the hands of a man with whom she had been in a long-term extramarital relationship. The defendant secretly filmed their sexual encounters, then extorted cash from her by threatening to send the footage to her family and coworkers.
This was far more than illegal filming; it was a grave crime combining threats and blackmail. From the outset, the victim suffered intense psychological distress, and the fear and shame of having her private life exposed brought her daily life to the brink of collapse.
2. DAEON's Strategy
I put the victim's psychological trauma and fear of social stigma first, prioritizing confidential statements and safety measures. At the same time, to prove that the defendant's offense was not a private quarrel but a premeditated, repeated crime, I concentrated on securing digital evidence and designing the criminal strategy.
In particular, I clearly emphasized the key points, namely the 'covert' nature of the filming, the 'persistence' of the threats, and the 'specificity' of the extortion, and responded firmly to the defendant's attempts to minimize the case as a mere 'dispute over sex.'
On the issue of settlement, I put the victim's protection first and made clear that a settlement must never be exploited as a tool for leniency. The defendant did in fact pay part of the amount in hopes of a reduced sentence, but the court gave greater weight to the seriousness of his methods, and the case ended in a prison sentence.
In sex crime cases, I do not simply draft a complaint; I design the entire process so that the victim receives real protection and recovery.
