The plaintiff (our client) was drawn into a 'team mission high-income side-job scam,' lured through SNS and a side-job app ('Lampion') by claims that watching videos would earn payments, with the demands gradually escalating to large sums. Under psychological pressure from the fraud ring, which threatened not to return the principal already paid unless the missions were completed, the plaintiff even took out a card loan and remitted more than KRW 38.5 million in total, suffering severe financial and emotional harm. The plaintiff retained DAEON and filed a Damages suit against the holders of the accounts used in the crime (the defendants).

DAEON's attorneys legally established that even if the defendants claimed they had not directly participated in the fraud or did not know the specific scheme, the very act of transferring or lending the access media for accounts in their own names (borrowed-name bank accounts) to others constituted 'negligent aiding and abetting' under the Civil Act that facilitated the fraud, giving rise to joint tort liability. As a result of this meticulous proof, the court clearly recognized the defendants' joint tort liability and granted the substantive Damages of over KRW 37.8 million, excluding amounts already paid, plus default interest at 12% per annum, with the defendants ordered to bear 90% of the litigation costs—successfully remedying the harm.
